Syria Closes Border With Jordan
BEIJING -- Jordanian officials say Syria has closed all its land border crossings into Jordan, amid continuing unrest in the country.
A Jordanian diplomat says the two main crossings in the south of the country were shut, after Syrian troops entered the southern town of Daraa. But a Syrian official at the Interior Ministry has denied the reports.
25 people are said to have been killed in Daraa on Monday, after the army stormed the city at dawn, firing on protestors. Meanwhile, the White House says it's considering sanctions against the Syrian government, in response to the protest crackdown.
A spokesman for the US National Security Council says the administration is pursuing a range of possible policy options. More than 300 people have been killed in Syria during anti-government protests in recent weeks.
